Volunteer Code of Conduct

Volunteers are expected to represent the organization with professionalism, integrity, and respect at all times. While we fall under the title of "volunteers" we must treat these opportunities as if we are employed by the venue.

1. Commitment and Attendance

  • Volunteers are expected to contribute their time, attention, and effort to assigned tasks.

  • Spectating is not permitted; you are expected to be active and engage for the full duration of your scheduled shift. For example, you cannot leave the stand you are assigned to watch the game/concert.

  • Volunteers must remain at their assigned stand until officially dismissed.

2. Food and Drink

  • No eating is allowed on the front line at any venue.

  • Eating policies vary by venue - please consult your stand lead or assistant to the lead for details.

  • Drinks should be kept out of customer view, and only consumed when appropriate.

3. Cell Phone Use

  • Cell phone use is prohibited on the front line at all times.

  • Phones should be stored out of sight.

  • Do not watch videos, TV shows, or play video games.

  • We understand the majority of volunteers are parents leaving children at home which can pose challenges. If you need to take a call, step to the back or outside the stand out of the view of the customer when time permits. Inform your lead and return promptly.

  • In an emergency, notify the stand lead so coverage can be arranged.

4. Earbuds, Airpods, and Audio Devices

  • Earbuds, Airpods, and headphones are strictly prohibited at all venues in both front and back of house due to health code concerns and professionalism.

5. Uniform and Appearance

  • Volunteers must comply with all venue uniform standards and maintain a professional appearance. Specifics for each venue are listed under the "Venue" tab. Any deviation from the guidelines will be communicated by the venue scheduler.

  • Venue-specific shirts may be provided and must be returned after the event/season. It is the responsibility of the volunteer to ensure return of the uniform to avoid charges from the venue which will be applied to the volunteer.

  • Some venues allow uniform purchase, with costs applied to the volunteer.

  • Non-compliance with uniform policies will result in disciplinary action. See Dress Code under policies for specifics.

6. Conflict Resolution

  • Should an issue arise with a volunteer, customer, or venue staff, immediately notify the lead or assist so that they may handle the situation.

  • No volunteer shall engage with venue representatives directly.

  • Failing to follow this procedure will result in the volunteer being removed from the venue until further notice following a formal investigation.

7. Respect and Safety

  • Every volunteer has the right to feel safe, comfortable, and respected.

  • Sexual harassment or misconduct is strictly prohibited.

  • Maintain professional language in front of customers.

8. General Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate disciplinary action:

  • Use of abusive or foul language towards any individual.

  • Use of, or being under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or illegal drugs while volunteering.

  • Possession of explosives, unlicensed firearms, weapons, or any dangerous materials is not permitted at any time.

  • Any form of sexual harassment.

Violations of these may result in financial penalties from the venue, passed onto the violator, and can jeopardize our groups contracts with the venues.

9. Honesty in Reporting and Theft

  • Falsifying sign-in/out time is grounds for suspension or removal from the group.

  • Failure to submit all collected cash donations will be treated as theft and will result in suspension or termination of the volunteer. See Procedure tab for specifics on how to turn in cash tips.
